Every year, the Mavromatakis-Mitera Schools organize two-day visits of experiential learning in Crete and multi-day educational visits to the rest of Greek mainland and Cyprus too. The visits are taking place on weekends or during Easter break. It is addressed to children of 10 years of age and above that are attending Mavromatakis-Mitera Schools or they are alumni. At the two-day visits, the overnight stay is included; the experiential learning aims the students to get familiar with parts of our island, and develop social skills that will turn them to be more independent and self-autonomous. The selection of the areas of the island to be visited happens after a meticulous research is completed by the chaperones-teachers, in order to maintain the students’ safety.

Every visit is organized in a systematic approach according to the educational principles of a constructive and collaborative-discovery learning. Exploiting the experiential contact and supervision, the students are getting involved in discovery activities, information, expression and creativity, critical evaluation and reflection that will help them to get familiar, comprehend and obtain memories filled with pleasant emotions that will accompany them to all their lives. At the same time, a strong quality bond is created, between the students, the teachers and their land.
